IEM – Intel Extreme Masters Betting Guide
Intel Extreme Masters, also known as IEM, is one of the most prestigious tournament series in CS:GO. The very first IEM took place more than 14 years ago, and since then, the competition has evolved into a spectacular show that delights audiences and players alike. And each edition of IEM comes with numerous esports betting opportunities. You can learn all you need to know about them in this Intel Extreme Masters betting guide.
Intel Extreme Masters Betting Odds
Before every edition of IEM, the best esports betting sites provide you with a wide range of options.
Intel Extreme Masters Betting Sites
Below is a list of esports betting sites that you can use to place bets on IEM! On these sites you will find both pre-event and live IEM betting odds.
Intel Extreme Masters Betting Markets
When betting on IEM tournaments, you can be as specific as you want. Because bookmakers cover not only the event itself, but also each individual match and in great detail. If your specialty is pistol rounds, you can bet on those. If you know the statistics behind every map for each team, you can bet on who will win one of the maps played in a match.
If your specialty is guessing the right score, you can make use of that skill by betting not only on who will win a match, but also at what advantage. This can be done with handicap betting. Or perhaps you’re interested in individual players like s1mple, NiKo, or rain. Then you’ll probably want to place bets on their map scores. And that is also on the list of options you get to choose from.
IEM Betting Bonuses
Because IEM events tend to be very important in CS:GO, esports betting sites will sometimes make it even more attractive to bet on them with various bonuses. These bonuses are announced by each bookmaker prior to the start of the tournament. Of course, you could also get a welcome bonus by simply signing up and making your first deposit. Top bookmakers will usually give you a bonus equal to 100% of your deposit, up to a certain amount such as 100 Euro.
Intel Extreme Masters Format
The competitive format of IEM varies for each individual tournament. But the most frequently used works like this. The competition starts with a Group Stage, which consists of 2 groups of 8 teams. The winner of each group advances to the Semifinals. The 2nd and 3rd place teams advance to the Quarterfinals.
The Playoffs Stage has 5 matches: 2 Quarterfinals, 2 Semifinals, and one Grand Final. The first 4 are Bo3. The last one is Bo5. The Group Stage matches are Bo3, except for the ones from the Upper Bracket Round 1, which are Bo1.
Intel Extreme Masters History
The first IEM event took place in 2007, at a time when CS:GO hadn’t even been born yet. After the launch of the current edition of Counter-Strike, ESL started to organize IEM tournaments for it, but only after several years. The first such event happened in 2015 and it was called IEM X gamescom. The winner was Team Envy. Since then, there have been more than 25 IEM competitions. One of the last ones, called IEM XVI Cologne, had a prize pool of $1 million and was won by Natus Vincere.
