The Paris Eternal joined the Overwatch League at the beginning of the 2019 season. Like the London Spitfire, the Eternal are a European team, being based out of France. The Eternal are owned by DM-Esports founder Drew McCourt. The Eternal are in the Atlantic North Division of competition. Their signature colors are maroon and gold, and they feature prominently in their logo, a stylized outline of a rooster.
The current Paris Eternal roster consists of 5 players. They are as follows:
Like many other teams, the Eternal maintained a core array of players despite seeing players depart to other teams. Several former players who left the Eternal following the most recent season have found a new home with the Dallas Fuel. Despite these losses, the Eternal retained several young, outstanding talents on their roster like Xzi and NiCOgdh. In their recruiting phase, more experienced veteran players would likely be a good compliment to the current Eternal roster, which makes the Paris Eternal a safe OWL bet in the coming season.
Having missed out on the inaugural season, the Eternal’s history begins with the 2019 season. Unfortunately for them, their inexperience resulted in them finishing with the 14th place record and missing out on the playoffs. However, they showed significant improvement in their placings and performances in the 2020 season, which also helped with their OW odds value. The highlight of their season came during Summer Showdown competition, in which they shocked several heavyweight teams to secure a first-place season. They finished with the 4th best record in the League, but unfortunately fell slightly in the playoffs and finished in a tie for 7th/8th. If the Eternal continue this track record of improvement, expect them to continue to see success in future seasons.
