The San Francisco Shock are the most successful and award-winning team currently participating in the Overwatch League, making them one of the safest Overwatch bet. The Shock are wildly popular and are based on San Francisco, California. They are owned by businessman Andy Miller, who also co-owns NRG Esports. The Shock’s team colours are orange and black, and their logo features a seismograph reading along with the bolded word “SHOCK.”
The Shock currently have 10 active players on their roster. They are as follows:
As to be expected from the most successful team in the OWL, the Shock didn’t need to make many roster changes entering the offseason. The Shock added FDGoD, nero, and Glister to their roster while the only player to depart the Shock was Rascal. It is no understatement to say the Shock’s roster is already packed with superstars. In every position, the Shock has a choice of standout, impactful players to fill the role. Their ability to recruit and retain this talent has been instrumental in their OWL success, and this could be seen by how steady their Overwatch betting odds remain.
Unlike many other teams, the Shock’s first season of OWL competition was their weakest showing out of all the seasons. They finished with the 9th overall record and missed out entirely on the mid-season qualifier stages. After this, they also missed out on the Season 1 playoffs entirely and ended their inaugural run at the end of the regular season. Although they didn’t know it at the time, this early defeat would be by far their worst placement for the next 2 seasons of the OWL. In the 2019 and 2020 season, the San Francisco Shock were absolutely dominant. In 2019, they were top 2 in every midseason playoff stage, and defeated the opposing Vancouver Titans with a 4-0 sweep to become the 2019 Grand Champions. In 2020, the Shock won both the midseason Countdown Cup and Summer Showdown, and went on to win the North American bracket and the Grand Finals bracket by defeating the Seoul Dynasty. This victory made them the first and only back-to-back Overwatch League Grand Champions. And with the talent and experience the Shock have, a shot at a third title is not out of the question…
